Started in the heart of North Kildonan, Donwood currently manages long-term care, assisted living, subsidized independent living and life lease units across Winnipeg. With humble beginnings of an 81 bed personal care home in 1970, the Donwood organization has grown to become a respected provider of health and housing services to older adults.

Donwood is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives from 8 Mennonite Brethren churches in Winnipeg: Eastview Community Church, Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, Fort Garry Mennonite Brethren Church, McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, Portage Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, River East Mennonite Brethren Church and Westwood Community Church.

Together with Donwood’s senior leaders and staff, the Board of Directors strive to care for seniors with dignity, respect and Christian values. Donwood Personal Care Home is 1 of 39 facilities in Winnipeg that all together, provide care to 5700 older adults.
